Friendship & Laughter

Friendship is one of the most important things to me and I'm lucky to call some incredible people, friends.  They have been there for me through the thick and thin and always know how to put a smile on my face!

When I look around there is such a need for instant gratification ...I'm guilty of it myself!   The constant need for connection paired with facebook, twitter and instagram accounts has created an undeniable need to disconnect!!

Our time is so never know when your time to spend with someone might be your cherish the good, be there for the bad and for goodness sakes snap your photo, put it down, be silly and sip champagne.
TTC's TOP TEN List to make a special friend feel OH SO important!
1.  Pick up a post card and send it to a friend... even if you live down the street.
It will undoubtedly put a smile on their face because who doesn't like getting mail but more importantly it's the fact that you thought of them and went out of your way to make them feel special.  It's old school but we need to go old school every once and a while.

2.  Find a massage therapist, see if they have e-vouchers and surprise a friend, especially when they are having a rough week!  I was planning my wedding and the month before, my best friend sent me a surprise email with a link that led me to one incredible massage.  She even went so far as to include the tip which blew me away.  Your friend will feel refreshed and ready to take on the world.

3.  Invite your friend over and spoil them with an old recipe....or  go
bold and try something new.   The surprise can come when you tell them you guys can just order in or go pick something up....then when he/she arrives you can greet them at
the door with a glass of wine and one incredible smell.   Your friends will
love being spoiled with some home cooking and feel extra special that you
went to so much trouble.

4. Make a shutterfly book to recap their year or a big life event.
These days most people post pictures of their whole life online
so it's pretty easy to piece together a friends important days and make it
come to life in a shutterfly book...all while keeping it a surprise.  It will blow
your friend away that you took the time to bring their memories to life in a
tangible book that they will have forever.  Shutterfly usually has some kind of
coupon so just bank on putting in some time and effort on this one.   It only
gets pricy when you add in extra pages and go for some of the upgrades (flat
pages, hard cover, etc)....but that friend may truly be worth the time and

5.  It doesn't have to cost you money....go for a run or a walk.  If one of your friends is trying hard to workout then encourage them by rerouting your usually Wednesday happy hour to the nature preserve.  This also goes for someone who is having a hard time.  Getting outside on a pretty day and just being there to listen to them is worth more than you could ever spend.  It's simple, easy and will give you such satisfaction of just simply being able to be there for your friend when they need you most!!

6.  Pick up the phone and call your friend.  Sounds silly but we get so caught up in the texting world that sometimes just hearing someone's voice could make such a difference your friends whole day...."I was thinking about you and wanted to see how you're doing?"  It's the little things in life that make this world go round.

Play hookie and help them avoid a long wait at the dealership.  You find out your friend is sitting at a dealership with at least an hour wait.  Show up and surprise them by offering to take them to lunch or to grab a drink.  Nobody likes sitting at a dealership while their car gets fixed so they will seriously think you are the kindest person ever for saving them from complete boredom!  It's a win, win for you because you also get to spend time with your friend just out of the blue...and from my experiences these times can become some of the best memories!!

8.  Show up with flowers on a random day just because! Flowers don't have to
be from a husband or boyfriend.  Flowers can brighten up someone's home and make someone feel appreciated in a matter of minutes.  You can certainly go elaborate but they don't have to the most expensive (most stores have gorgeous flowers for under $20).  In fact, Trader Joe's grows their own flowers and offers significant discounts. This is a surprise that is sure to leave your friend thinking of you for at least a week.

9. Fashionista help and wine.  It could be for a first date or a big work meeting but whatever the event, help your friend pick out the perfect outfit and help them figure out what looks the most impressive.  Sometimes nerves set in and that's where you and some wine come in....pour a glass of wine and just be there before they set off for a night on the town.  Having you be there and offer your advice will take their mind off of how nervous they might be!  And this certainly doesn't have to be limited to the girlfriends.  Some guys need plenty of help especially if they took a while to ask the girl out.  It never hurts to get a second opinion and if you've got a way with fashion why not help them look their best.

10.  If you find out your friend is sick, show up with soup.  Whether you make it or pick it up at Corner Bakery your friend will be forever grateful in their greatest time of need.  Being sick is the worst especially if you don't have anyone to take care of you.  Depending on how sick your friend is and how much of a nurse you want to become...don't forget to wear a mask and throw away gloves to keep the germs away.
